FROM supermarket self-service tills, to getting stuck behind a tall person at the cinema, a new survey reveals our top 20 bugbears.

The poll of 1,000 Brits was run by Bovril and here is the list of woe, with what percentage of us named each gripe . . .

1. Waking up and it being dark outside (55%)

2. PPI calls (47%)

3. Leaving something important at home (44%)

4. Trying to avoid someone you know in the supermarket (43%)

5. Queuing in traffic (39%)

6. Supermarket self-service tills (39%)

7. Talking about the weather (38%)

8. Holding the door open for one too many people (35%)

9. Running out of mobile phone battery (34%)

10. Remembering whether it’s bin day or recycling day (33%)

11. Over-apologising (32%)

12. Getting stuck behind a tall person at the cinema or theatre (31%)

13. Getting caught in the rain without an umbrella (31%)

14. Making a cup of tea and forgetting about it (29%)

15. Forgetting to have a pound coin handy for the supermarket shopping trolley (29%)

16. Being ignored by the barman (25%)

17. Receiving a present you already have (25%)

18. Being served a cold or incorrect meal in a restaurant (25%)
