Why is it interesting? The National Lottery is a national initiative set up by central government to fund sport at a national level, and good causes locally. it has precisely zilch-all to do with the provision of local community leisure facilities by councils and never has had; the apparent contrast is entirely spurious. I think it interesting and question what the country would benefit more from, elite level athletes possibly winning a medal every four years or sport for all, all year round, that's without even mentioning the legacy that people keep trotting out like a dancing horse, what is the legacy of winning all these medals if the youngsters have no where to train to emulate them, perhaps we can try hothousing anyone under 5 who shows even a glimmer of talent next.
