This. To most British people winning Wimbledon after a 77 year British drought is a far bigger deal than being the first Briton to win the TdF. The reality is that the UK does not have much of a tradition in cycling, and it's only in recent years that it's become more popular (and successful).
As much as I like cycling, I think Murray's win is far more significant for the British public, and he's at least as deserving of a knighthood as a result.
