But former directors could have the last word on the survival of United if they fail to provide their backing to his proposal.
Mr Barry told shareholders at the club's annual meeting last night that he was ready, together with vice-chairman Johnny Hon and American businessman Adrian Hanauer, to plough £600,000 into United over the next two years.
