Policemen have started wearing nail varnish...

... to highlight slavery:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017...very-campaign/

I think that this is ridiculous and, as they keep telling us that they don't have enough resources to investigate burglary and child sex abuse, that they should be found better things to do.

Rightly or wrongly, it will decrease respect for the police for those that still have any.

Perhaps they put the varnish on in their own time?

I doubt it used up any extra "resources" that would be used for actual crime fighting.

On the other hand (!) it does seem like little more than a bit of a silly stunt.

Lol :D

Now we see them wearing high heels & wearing silly masks!

I really think that this is undermining their authority; how do you think hardened criminals are going to react to being arrested by one wearing something like this!

Even if they did, how do you think it looks!? It might also be seen as mocking any policemen undergoing gender reassignment.

I think a better option would be to raid any nail bars suspected of using slaves.

It's a silly stunt that's got people talking about a pretty nasty serious crime that wrecks lives, it's clever even if it does demean the office a little in the process.

You know, they look quite nice. Think I might get my nails done in my football teams colours ;)

So that's why crime is up 13% the police can't chase after crims in high heels!

meanwhile, unfriendliness is now a hate crime.

There's a few on this forum in trouble then !

Its all 'political correctness gone mad' I should think, or the Daily Mail tells me to think...

PC's gone mad more like. The police shouldn't involve themselves in this kind of nonsense; they have a tough job to do that requires the respect of all sectors of the public. Poncing around in fancy dress doesn't work for them or us.

I think it is positive thing that the police are bringing to the attention of the public that something as simple as getting your nails done on the cheap might not be all at it seems it certainly has made me consider this now.

Haha. Being serious I would speculate that the massive cuts carried out by our now joke of a Prime Minister are a far more likely cause :)

What is strange is that the (right wing) press seem to make more of a fuss about this non-story than the news that the Met is cutting back on the crimes they are able to pursue due to budget cuts:

'Not practical' for Met Police to investigate all crime

The Tories have long since moved away from the position of being the "Party of Law and order" it seems ..
