Laptop Power Jack repair

Hi

I need to replace the laptop power jack as when you move the power cable slightly it cuts power and the laptop turns off.

When I've opened it up I can get right down to the last screw which I've pictured. None of my jewellers screwdrivers seem to fit the screw and I've started to slightly damage it. Does anyone know what screwdriver I need?

I'd try a mini screw extractor.

Looks like a Philips rather than a pozidrive. The angles and proportions differ between the two types.

Sometimes these screws have little or no depth to them so a pointed screwdriver bottoms out. Sometimes a well fitting flat blade will get them.

I had a similar issue getting my old Sony lappy apart and eventually resorted to carefully drilling it out. Once the head is off there's no tension and the stub can usually be undone with pliers.

Def not a philips or a pozi, more a special that I have never seen before.
Good luck on this if bodging doesn't work!

Also, what type of screwdrivers are you using? If its those silver type with no handle and just a "ribbed" shaft I'd get hold of a decent set and try again.

Definitely looks like a tamper proof one way to me (Sentinel?). Maybe Google will help but it looks like it's doing what it's designed to do.

Sorry I can't be more help but once you get it out replace it with a normal screw!

Cheers

Just those, yes. Any suggestions on which to buy?

I bought these at my local maplin:

they're not magnetised (but can be with a normal magnet) but they're really good for stripping/rebuilding laptops with.
