New Sim Cock-up

On Friday 25th November I ordered a new 4G sim. By 1st December it still hadn't arrived. So I phoned CS and was told I should have it by now and they would send me another one express. I received it the following morning Friday.
The first one turned up today Saturday.
To activate it says in documents. If you still have old sim text READY and we'll send you message to let you know it's all done.
So yesterday sent text. No message back. So did it on line and it activated, till today then No service.
So phoned CS and was told when I text to activate yesterday it activated the first one! So I had to swap them over. Now you would think if you hadn't received one they would do something so it couldn't be activated.
What would have happened I the other one hadn't arrived?

Not quite sure which one you are referring to as "the other one".

Personally, after activating, and finding the second one wasnt working, I would have simply tried the first one anyway, without having to ring CS and them suggesting it, seems a rather obvious thing to do

A similar thing happened to me but they deactivated the 1st SIM when they sent the 2nd SIM.

I meant the first one they sent.

Why obvious. The first sim I received (the second one sent) was working. I took it the original would not have been able to be activate when the second one was sent in case someone else was using it. Was at one point Both were activated
