Love the way the BBC press office doesn't even know when the original series was on. "First aired over a decade ago" they say ... try 1998, nearer 2 decades ago. It was actually canned a little over a decade ago, when Channel 5 cancelled it. Press release was probably written by someone who was in nappies at the time though.

On a lighter note, I can't wait for this and my kids will be delighted too. We saw a couple of eps on Challenge the other week and they absolutely loved it.

Thoroughly enjoyed the original series and the continual innovation in the robot weapons especially the flippers and the awesome Hypnodisk.

Anybody know if Craig Charles will compare the show? Pity Phillipa Forester has gone all mumsy. Maybe they can find a new slightly built leather\PVC clad....:naughty:

Well Craig Charles would love to come back!

He hosted the show from the second series onwards back in the late '90s, and has tweeted that he'd love to come back for the reboot, but no one's asked him yet.

He wrote: "Okay guys. I've heard the news but as yet have had no contact with anyone involved in the new production of robot wars #lovetodoit."

I went to see Robot Wars live European Championships in Norwich in 2013 (2 day event). I was surprised just how big and hefty some of those robots were and to see them get tossed into the air about 10ft high like it was nothing shows that they really do have a lot of power in them. Was good to watch.

Looking forward to seeing the new series.

What is it with the BBC and Irish presenters. When you think of all the regions in the UK the Irish seem over represented to me. Where are the Cornish, Cumbrian or East Anglian presenters.....

Or Scottish presenters, seen as it will be filmed in Glasgow!
