Man held in Dubai for finger salute

Quote:

A British man who raised his middle finger at another driver in Dubai could face jail after he was arrested for "offensive behaviour".
Jamil Ahmed Mukadam, from Leicester, said he reacted "in frustration" when the driver cut him off in traffic.
It happened in February but he was detained on 10 September as he returned to Dubai for a second holiday.
His passport has been confiscated and Mr Mukadam has been told he must remain in the city awaiting a court hearing.

One reason why I never went back. Another was the appalling way in which they treated all 'foreigners', especially those from poorer countries. I don't think much has changed if you don't happen to be one of their own.

A Scot is facing a three-year jail sentence in Dubai for reportedly putting his hand on a man in a bar.
Jamie Harron, who is 27 and from Stirling, said he was trying to avoid spilling his drink in the crowded Rock Bottom Bar when the incident happened.
He was locked up for five days and has now been prevented from leaving the city in order to attend court.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it was providing consular assistance on the matter.

Such a tolerant place.
