So far as I know, it is still not possible to get a Sky+ box to work unless you pay a subscription to Sky.

It would also not work properly on the satellite connection in your new flat unless the connection has two cables, connecting back to a dual-LNB on the dish (this is how it allows you to watch one prog while recording another).

Unless you want to pay a subscription to Sky in order to record satellite programmes, you would be better off waiting a few weeks until this Freesat recorder is launched. It will not require any subscription in order to operate, and it has HD capability so you're future-proofed for whenever you eventually buy yourself a HDTV.

Note however that the Freesat box, like a Sky+ box, requires a dual-cable connection to the dish to work properly.

And it aint cheap - expected to retail at about £300 when it launches in a few weeks, although that price will tumble fairly quickly.
