New boiler - networked control installation

I'm all lined up to get a new boiler installed after a gruelling quote comparison session. The problem is that I've just started digging into getting something like one of the Nest thermostats and I don't want to shell out for two engineers.

Would you trust a general faceless supplier (probably end up with these guys The Boiler Network) to sort something like this at the same time as the installation? Or do I have to just resign myself to booking a specialist for the thermostat brand I decide on separately?

Please don't encourage me to do it myself, I'm easily influenced and can see it ending badly ;)

Location could depend on signal strength, so a survey might be needed.

I'm not encouraging you but I installed a NEST to my daughter's boiler and it was easy

I dont know about NEST, but I installed the British Gas HIVE system easily enough.

Sorry for slow reply, been really busy recently. Thanks for the reassurance. Seems like I wouldn't be the first to give it a go, so I'm going to bite the bullet and buy the kit. If it all gets a bit much I can always get an engineer in at a later date.

Our current thermostat is radio linked to the boiler. I can set different time patterns for each day and it has a holiday mode where it keeps the house at a set temp for number of days. This is (was) a "standard" BG model installed with the boiler before we moved in over 11 years ago.

Seems all some of these more complex systems add is ability to change things without getting out of your chair (or remotely if you want to risk that). How much benefit for that outlay? If you have an efficient condensing combi boiler you'd need to be turning off your heating remotely a lot to pay it all back.
