Trojan KD78889
My neighbour has advised me that her computer has been infected by above.
(She has Virgin security installed, which has not protected her) Any suggestions on what I can use to remove, bearing in mind her machine can't access net at all. Brian |
Re: Trojan KD78889
You could try posting on the bleeping computer forums as they have a team dedicated to malware cleaning. But it will likely be a very painful process.
If (?) she has a recent backup of her photos etc, the best bet is a fresh reinstall - quicker and known to be clean. And she needs to change any online bank, email passwords asap. Btw, what told her she had this trojan? |
Re: Trojan KD78889
She rang up Virgin and explained her problem (60pounds and we will help! - not at this time of the year)
Oh and she got a 15pound credit on her bill. |
Re: Trojan KD78889
Give malwarebytes a go, it's free and i've had success with it in the past. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Re: Trojan KD78889
you will need to down load onto a usb stick then install on her machine, run it in safe mode

Re: Trojan KD78889
Will try the above in the morning, lady works late shifts.
Thanks for the suggestions. |
Re: Trojan KD78889
I have left the ladies hubby running malwarebytes, so far it has picked up 35 nasties.
(doing a full scan of C in normal to see what is up?) |
Re: Trojan KD78889
Well 2hours later, following a full scan the drive was clean of nasties.
Will have to remember about malwarebytes for future. |
Re: Trojan KD78889
Indeed. It's a useful tool to have on your own machine even before you get 'hit' by an infection. I run a short scan periodically just to be sure.
