Problem checking web mail
Is there a problem with the VM home page as I cannot log in to VM web mail.
I can get to other web pages such as BBC etcetera. |

So there is an issue (first I've known for years), they know about it, and are working on fixing it. Problems sometimes happen, no biggie.
If e-mail is that important to someone then they should probably just run their own e-mail system, not rely on an ISP (it also allows you not to be dependant on any one ISP). I've been running my own server for many years, it costs me a few $ per a year for a dedicated VPS. |

It has been sporadic for months. I dont see many consumers running their own email systems or knowing how to. I would not have a clue.
I pay Virgin a lot of money so I would hope more times than not it would work I know no service is entirely fault free. |

Vm's webmail has been 'flaky' for years. Seems to be difficult to provide and maintain for some reason.

It does work more times than not, in fact in recent years outages and issues have been very rare. From my POV my cable connection has failed more times in the last 6 years than my e-mail (and I can count the cable failures on one hand, with fingers to spare). |

Homepage and Email have both crashed yet again becoming an absolute joke now nearly every week something is crashing

Definitely something going on, or an area fault but seems a bit coincidental

Don't use an ISP provided email service. It's pretty low on their list of priorities to maintain and run, but more importantly you have no guarantee to keep it if you ever change ISP's - a form of lock in.
Use one of the MANY free email providers like Outlook or Gmail. Incidentally, I think in the 13 years I've used gmail I've had maybe 1 issue. |

I think I spoke to soon, i must have been lucky earlier, can't access now.
Yesterday was the first time I've had problems with web mail in along time. I cans till access using mail client on home pc, or phone. |

Best to remember that an estimate is exactly what it says - so it may (or may not) be fixed by then, all depends on what the issue is.
Estimates are often changed as work on an issue progresses. |

Gmail. I don't recall a problem in the several years I have used them. My previous ntlworld accounts are redirected to Gmail

Forget web-mail Use a proper mail client like Thunderbird and keep a copy of the mail on your machine. Then you're unlikely to lose them.
Now with smtp authentication you can send mail from any access point like local Wi-Fi. |

POP3 & SMTP seems to be working fine (which I use most often) its appears the fault is limit to the Web Access.

My mail has been playing up. I originally thought it was because I bought a new PC which I had to set up.
I found my passwords in windows live mail using mailpassview. It works a treat. I also had the virgin info for setting up windows live mail. My partners a/c was working fine, using live mail or webmail from virgin media. I had 2 original a/c's @ ntlworld.com they refused to work with webmail but worked with windows live mail. I then set up a new a/c @ virginmedia.com. This will work with webmail only, with live mail it will not work at all. This last week my partners e-mail now refuses to work. So it would seem to appear that all my troubles are the fault of Virgin and not me. I do hope peoples answers will get through virgins mail system SOMETIME :bigcry: |

What an absolute farce for a communications company. Have transferd all accounts to Gmail but forgot to do one account (my fault) and its the one I need an email from typical.
Not a week goes by without an issue of one sort or another from Virgin. |

I've run the whole SMTP / POP3 / IMAP stuff in the past. Never again. Having to deal with the admins at Hotmail who decide to block entire IP address ranges for no reason just drove me insane. For business email I now use Google G-suite (was formerly Google Apps for Work) or Office 365 and for transactional emails on my websites I use Amazon SES. I'd rather pay someone else to do it than do it myself. |
