FTTP Install Question
Hi Hope somebody can answer this question- my understanding is that for the FTTP install fibre is converted to coax in the property, does this converter require power?
I only ask as there isn't power sockets next to where I would expect the cable to enter the property, thanks for your help. |
The power for the laser kit most likely feeds back down through the coax cable to the ONT on the outside wall. The cable probably goes through a power inserter / battery thing on the inside of the property. I don't know that for sure, but it seems likely.

Re: FTTP Install Question
The converter does need a mains supply that's fed from the property. It's separate to the coax.

Re: FTTP Install Question
I believe the power is fed through the coax. It was about a year ago I looked at the kit though. But if you haven't got a spare socket it doesn't matter which way it's fed you still need a socket haha.

Re: FTTP Install Question
The power goes through the same coax as your signal to wherever your isolator is.
