Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion

All updated to the latest 10565 fast ring build, no problems so far, there is 1 option that may help people in the future, it lets you change the product key if it fails to activate and you can enter your legit Windows 7/8.1 key.

Lastly, those that have struggled in the past to activate their version of Windows 10 can now just simply enter their Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 product key. Naturally, it has to be a valid version, but should make activating or updating to Windows 10 a bit easier.

This seems a far more stable build so far.

I've not yet made the jump (and very likely won't until SP1 or its equivalent)
I'm guessing things like Windows 10 Build 10565 are preliminaries for a Service Pack inclusion?

Microsoft have said they will no longer supply service packs.

They have been known to change their minds before though.

Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion

They may roll them out in smaller pieces as part of Windows update then, rather than a huge SP, I suppose now we all have fast broadband, it's not the issue it was.

I think as it stands Windows 10 is pretty good and am pleased it was a free upgrade, i couldn't go back to Windows 7 or 8 now.

We can now clean install and use our existing 7/8/8.1 keys on qualifying devices with this current Insiders build 10565, which is great.

Build 10565 now rolling out to the slow ring just a few days after it hit the fast ring.

The most stable version for me.

That's good to hear. Now I should be able to clean install it on my new SSD.

Microsoft now uses Windows 10's Start menu to display ads
http://betanews.com/2015/10/15/micro...o-display-ads/

I noticed it on my win 10 box last night, an ad for what looked like a facebook style game :(

also in non-breaking news, after last night's big update bridged network in vmware stopped working, reinstalled it again and it works again. maybe I need to reinvestigate Virtual PC (well whatever the new one is called) especially as that's what we use at work on the new Win 10 machines (I'm on 7 at work so still VirtualPC), also there was a new virtualbox available last week or so ago so if I'm bored at the weekend I may try that again ;)

I have started to use this now, all due to all the tracking they are doing.

Decided to opt in to being an Insider on my slowwwwww laptop as i like how the latest build works and looks, was pleasantly surprised that we could actually still do this and with just a click of a button in the windows 10 settings.

Do you mean the 'suggested' phototastic app?

Looking in windows settings you can turn off 'occasionally show suggestions in start' so maybe that will stop it? Atleast that option is there in build 10565. :)

I have to say i am loving Windows 10, in my opinion it is the best version of Windows so far, and am happy it is a free upgrade for the first 12 months, but it seems easy to get hold of it for free anyway by becoming a Windows Insider (atleast i think you can) and this is without piracy.

When I load edge it comes full screen. When I load IE or Chrome it comes out the size I've set it too. Is there any way to do it with edge?

Mine doesn't load full screen, but i set it to full screen from the normal place in the top right hand corner and it stays full screen when opened again, so have you tried doing the opposite?

My annoyance with Edge is it never opens in the same place on the screen, but i am not ready to use it yet until addons work with it.

Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion

Does anyone here bother installing leaks?

I expect another fast ring build soon seeing the slow ring is on the same build as the fast currently.
