Sheamus O'Shaunessy is immense, he's gonna be big. Image-wise, I'm not so sure, the super-ginger/ultra pale thing may just end up with him being labelled a "freak" like Snitsky was, but skill-wise he's awesome.

Edge Suffers Serious Injury At SmackDown/ECW House Show Friday Night

Edge Suffers Serious Injury At SmackDown/ECW House Show Friday Night

Edge suffered what is believed to be a torn Achilles tendon during his match with Jeff Hardy at last night's SmackDown/ECW live event in San Diego. The injury occurred five minutes into the match and had to be stopped. Edge apologized to the fans by saying "sorry" on the mic before being taken out.

The match started with much posturing as Edge was going around the ring taunting fans so they were only a minute into the actual action when the injury took place. It appeared he planted his foot wrong and went down with his leg at a bad angle when he attempted to leapfrog Hardy's charge.

The match was immediately called off and EMTs came assist him before he was taken from the ring.

This is a very serious injury that would likely require surgery and a long period of down time, perhaps up to a year.

The rest of the SmackDown/ECW crew left this morning for a flight to Honolulu, Hawaii.

Next two guest hosts of WWE Monday Night Raw are revealed!

Spoiler below, if you want it to be a surprise please stop reading here:

Spoiler:

http://newsblaze.com/story/200907221.../topstory.html

Shaq and Jeremy Piven Tapped as Next Hosts of WWE's Monday Night Raw®

STAMFORD, Conn. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - WWE's Monday Night Raw on USA Network continues its weekly celebrity guest host series with NBA All-Star Shaquille O'Neal and Emmy Award-winning actor and Entourage star, Jeremy Piven.

Shaq will host Raw live from the Verizon Center in the nation's capital on Monday, July 27th and Piven, August 3rd from Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

Each week celebrities from the world of sports, television, music and film take control of the most-watched regularly scheduled program on cable television by arranging matches, dictating stipulations and managing the entire RAW roster of WWE Superstars and Divas for the evening.

Actor/writer/producer Seth Green and Rock N Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top were the first two guest hosts of Monday Night Raw, which airs live episodes each week at 9:00 PM ET on USA Network.

In addition to his role as Ari Gold in Entourage, Piven will be starring in the upcoming comedy film, The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard debuting in theaters August 14th.

And my thoughts:

Spoiler:
THE PIV, BABY! YEAH! I seriously hope he lays down some Ari Gold-style verbal beatdowns on someone, that would be awesome! Imagine The Piv vs Jericho in a verbal sparring contest, it'd be anarchy!

lol I thought that as well when I found out they've also signed Eric Bischoff. Rumour is they're also planning a monday night show to go up against Raw.

By the way, any ideas which other big name is in partnership with Hogan and Bischoff right now? Wooooooooo....

Now he would be a massive signing for TNA.

Re: WWE

Hrmmm I have my doubts about Ric Flair making the jump, his youngest son, Reid, has a development deal with WWE and him going over to the 'competition' may prejudice that.

Doesn't mean it's impossible of course but a consideration in Flair's thoughts perhaps.

Hogan jumping over doesn't surprise in the slightest. I hope it's not to compete, with how slow Hogan was last time I saw him just reeling off a couple of spots would take an hour now. Be seriously hard work for anyone having a match with him trying to put him over too.

He's never been a good worker, I'd be surprised if he could get his leg high enough for a legdrop now. But there's no denying his name still has huge drawing power.

As opposed to the HHH show? I prefered WCW to WWF and now I prefer TNA to WWE

Russ 28-10-2009 21:27

Re: WWE

TNA's booking is a joke and always will be with Russo as a writer. I watch it on Bravo for a few weeks and it seemed there were more interviews and backstage skits than actual wrestling. I can never get my head around the 6 sided ring and it's true a lot of their top workers had their best days in WWE.

Vince's show isn't perfect but at least the storylines tend to make more sense. The booking is almost always spot-on and character development is actually used. I hear what you say about the HHH show (when Vince goes it'll be him and Stephanie running the whole thing) but he has a good wrestling mind, he knows the business well.

Although it's being said the only reason Sheamus got drafted to Raw was because he's Hunter's gym buddy out on the road...

There are far to many mass factions brawling away at the moment which is Russo's style, I think he and Bischoff spin between genius and madness, they were killing the WWF in the monday night wars, I think the WWF had one ratings night success in three years! Then they went and spoilt it all with the finger poke of doom! I don't think there are that many has beens on the show either, only Scott Steiner and Nash, Stings still got it and Booker who is well past it has quit to go back to the WWE.

Russ 28-10-2009 21:49

Re: WWE

Forgetting Kurt Angle? Mick Foley?

I can't see how Russo will be able to work while Bischoff and Hogan are pulling strings. Dixie Carter obviously fancies making TNA the new WCW but she doesn't realise they only won the monday night ratings for so long is because as a company the continued to deficit-spend year after year. TNA just doesn't have that sort of cash.

Get a major broadcasting giant behind them, put them in the middle of a large Disney studio, get a show on monday night and hire some ex-WWE staff and it might work.

And it looks like they're on their way to acheiving all that.

Oh yeah Foley, I did forget about him and the Dudleys but Angle is hardly past it, Russo and Bisch will be fine, dunno what they are going to do with Hogan though, as for the rest of your post, I pretty much agree with it and can see it happening.

good idea, but what I really want to see is when his short term contract is up. Will he get screwed again somehow.

Re: WWE

He won't be wrestling though, Goldberg took care of that. More likely he'll guest-host Raw.

Remind us again was that the kick to the head or something.

Shame about not wrestling was looking forward to watching the best there is, was and ever will be.

Re: WWE

Yeah Goldberg stamp-kicked him in the head, giving him concussion that all but ended his career. Then a few years later he had a stroke from injuries in a motorbike accident. He's a lot smaller now, my mate saw him at a book signing last yeah, he's around 14 stone now.

Great show last night, glad to see Shawn and Brett put the past behind them but don't even get me started on Vince!

Russ 05-01-2010 13:39

Re: WWE

Agreed, the opening 15 minutes was the best part of Raw I've seen in years. What Bret and Shawn said to each other was clearly a shoot (real) but then ended it the right way. Kind of hoped the final part of the show would have happened the other way around (also great to see Stu Hart will be inducted in the Hall of Fame) but I guess this could mean some sort of Bret v Vince for Wrestlemania.

At the start of his entrance The Undertaker got burned by his own pyro - a firework exploded right in his face and burned his body which is why he threw his coat off and almost ran to the ring.

Even with the burns he went on to work the whole match.
